LeRoy Robert Ripley war ein US-amerikanischer Karikaturist, Unternehmer und Hobby-Ethnologe. Er war bekannt für "Believe it or not". "Believe it or not" erschien als Zeitungsserie, Radio- und Fernsehsendung. Inhalt waren merkwürdige Fakten aus der ganzen Welt. Believe it or not ist auch das Motto unseres Abends und für Re:PublicDomain 2020. Gestorben ist Robert Ripley an einer Herz-Attacke am 27. Mai 1949 in New York.
