Avraham Chaim Naeh

He is most famous for his works Ketzos ha-Shulchan, Piskei HaSiddur, Shi'urei Mikveh, and Shi'urei Torah (Measurements of the Torah), in the last work, he converted biblical measurements into contemporary measurements. The work is of great practical significance since much of Halacha involves specific requirements of precise sizes and quantities.

Aw Boon Haw

ein chinesischer Unternehmer. Aw entstammte einer Hakka-Familie aus Yongding. Aws Vater war der TCM-Heiler Aw Chu Kin (胡子欽)[2], der im späten 19. Jahrhundert alleine nach Birma auswanderte. Er war 1920 zusammen mit seinem jüngeren Bruder Aw Boon Par (胡文豹)[3] die Gründer des Pharmaunternehmens Haw Par Healthcare in Singapur, dessen erstes und bekanntestes Produkt die Erkältungssalbe Tiger Balm ist. Außerdem gründete er mehrere Zeitungen in Malaysia und Hongkong. Die Zeitungen die Aw gründeten waren beispielsweise die chinesischen Zeitungen Sin Chew Daily, Sing Tao Daily und der englischen Zeitung Hongkong Tiger Standard. Als Philanthrop stiftete er mehrere Parks, deren bedeutendster die heutige Haw Par Villa in Singapur ist, die 1937 unter dem Namen „Tiger Balm Gardens“ erbaut wurde.

Baburao Painter

ein indischer Filmregisseur und Bühnenmaler. Zwischen 1910 und 1916 gehörte er zu den führenden Bühnenmalern auf westindischen Theaterbühnen. Daher stammt auch sein Name „Painter“. Nach D. G. Phalkes Film Raja Harishchandra wurde er zum Filmenthusiasten und gründete 1918 die Maharashtra Film Company, aus der 1929 noch vor Aufkommen des Tonfilms in Indien die Prabhat Film Company hervorging. Baburaos erster Spielfilm wurde Sairandri (1920), der stark zensiert wurde, jedoch bei Kritikern und Publikum Beachtung fand. Er schrieb seine eigenen Drehbücher und führte den dreidimensionalen Raum statt Bühnenbemalung im indischen Film ein. 1921/22 veröffentlichte er die ersten indischen Programmhefte zu Filmen und entwarf selbst die Kinoplakate.

He later was given the title of ""politipresident"" (police president). He was a central figure in the Nazification of the Norwegian police, together with Jonas Lie. He was sentenced to twelve years of forced labor imprisonment for treason after the war. He died in Germany shortly after serving his sentence.
