Herbie Mann and Dave Valentin on flute with Tito Puente on percussion. Herbie Mann popularized the flute in the '50's playing Latin jazz. At the beginning of the '60's he went on a U.S. state sponsored tour of Africa. Soon after he traveled to Brazil where he fell in love with Bossa Nova music. He recorded albums with Brazilian musicians. Herbie Mann was truly one of the very first musicians to engage in World Music well before the term was coined.
