Adolf Becker
German military band director (born December 16, 1870 in Berlin – died June 14, 1941 in Berlin). After serving as Stabshoboist with the 1. Ermländischen Infanterie-Regiment Nr.150 in Allenstein (East Prussia), Becker transferred to the Kaiser Franz-Garde-Grenadier-Regiment in Berlin around 1900 and became its Kapellmeister a few years later. Before World War I, he made hundreds of recordings with his band, which became one of the most popular bands in Germany and internationally. Apart from marches, he recorded waltzes, Rheinländer, operettas and pop songs.
