Hiero Rhode Antiqua
1944
Designed by Hiero Rhode and released in 1944 by Norddeutsche Schriftgießerei (doing business as Johannes Wagner after WWII). A bold weight followed in 1946. Both weights have an alternate ‘a’. In 1958, after Rhode’s death in 1954, the foundry added an Italic designed by Karl Hans Walter, equipped with caps in two sizes, and a swash alternate for ‘z’.

Verknoten & Verknüpfen
2006
The regular weight was revived by Ari Rafaeli (ARTypes, 2006, based on a 20pt model, with both forms of ‘a’, used for the sample). This version seems to be no longer available.
2012
Gerhard Helzel’s digital version named Rhode-Mediaeval (2012) spans both weights plus the italic.
