Women with Bulldog, 1941, is comprised of source material from a 1930s French pornographic magazine. Echoing his previous work, each of the women and the bulldog come from a different photograph, layering them together to create this iconic image. This painting is much more realistic and reflective of the source material than Picabia’s surrealist work, but it remains an iconic piece of the artist’s body of creation.

ein französischer Schriftsteller, Maler und Grafiker. Picabia wechselte mehrfach die Stilrichtung. Er begann im Winter 1902/03 als Impressionist und stellte 1903 erstmals im Salon d’Automne und im Salon des Indépendants aus. Seine erste Einzelausstellung hatte er in der Galerie Haussmann in Paris im Jahr 1905. 1909 malte er mit Caoutchouc sein erstes Bild, das sich mit dem Kubismus auseinandersetzte und zugleich abstrakt war. Er verarbeitete jedoch auch weiterhin Elemente des Fauvismus sowie des Neo-Impressionismus.
